Writers Resist Amsterdam
Writers from across the globe came together for Writers Resist in the spirit of compassion, equality, free speech, and the fundamental ideals of democracy. A spoken word event was held simultaneously in different cities on January 15th 2017. The Amsterdam edition was organised by Versal Journal, Butcher's Tears, Structo Magazine, Stichting Reckoning, and a group of local activists. The event raised funds for Wij Zijn Hier (We Are Here), an organization that represents refugees in Amsterdam.
For the event we displayed an interactive exhibition where the audience could comment on portraits of evil politicians. We also created the Tapetime guerrilla typeface with the message 'Shut them up!' as an invitation to participate. We have brought together the reactions of the audience at this exhibition, as well as the reader's text pieces and pictures from the event, into an activist zine.
